The Tendency of China's Grain Supply and Demand under Globalization
China' s grain supply-demand variation affects its domestic grain security, and obviously interacts with the world food market .Given the population, economy and resources in the future,it is necessary to take some new scenarios into account to underline the tendency of China' s grain supply anddemand under globalization .The results show that :the appreciationof RMB stimulates global grain production and trade, while it has some negative impacts on China' s corn and beans;global biofuel development widens the gap between global grain supply and demand, and the change of world grain pattern may make a shift on China' s international grain resources;the effect of China' s grain subsidies on grain production increase is significant in the long run,but the acute structure imbalance continues in grain market .It is essential to improve grain market mechanism, adjust domestic grain supply-demand structure, and exploit international grain market toattain Chinese grain equilibrium .

Degression of Modern Government' s Legitimacy and Countermeasures
The foundation of the legitimacy of a modern government is its political legitimacy, that is,a government should be identified with and supported by its people in four aspects—political ideas and values, political system, economic and social policies, and management performance and consequences . The degression of modern government legitimacy creates great stress and poses serious challenge to the existence and operation of a government . Based on the reality of current China, this paper does a thorough exploration and examination of the main causes of the degression of government legitimacy, and suggests countermeasures to maintain and strengthen the legitimacy .

A Study on the Determinants of Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers in China :A Panel Data Approach

The system of fiscal transfer is essential for implementing the Scientific Outlook on Development, optimizing economic and social structure, promoting equalization of basic public services and balancing development between regions . Based on the relevant data of China' s 31 provinces for the period of 1999—2009,this paper examines the factors affecting intergovernmental fiscal transfers in China through panel data model . The results of the panel data analysis reveal that the present pattern of allocation of fiscal transfers is not beneficial to equal access to basic public services . Though the central government pays some attention to the overall economic development level and budgetary revenue when allocating fiscal transfers,it has ignored the existence of a large number of extra-budgetary,off-budgetary revenue .In particular, the central government' s concern about national unity has significant effects on provinces' s hares of fiscal transfers, whereas provincial governments possess limited bargaining power in the allocation of fiscal transfers .

Action ,Motivation ,and Self-Concept , and the Formation of Intellectual Ideas
Sociologists love structures but have avoided motivation . In recent decades, some sociologists have realized the importance of motivation, but most theories lack middle-range mechanisms .Self-concept can appropriately solve the problem and theorize actors' motivations . The three components,i.e. self-esteem,self-efficacy,and authenticity, develop out of social interactions, which makes the self-concept a social product and social force while avoiding biological or psychological determinism .Based on a survey of current sociological research on the formation of intellectual ideas, this article discusses the structural bias as a result of the lack of self-concept,the possibility of a synthesis between self-concept and concepts such as fields and habitus, and the potential of a set of explanatory mechanisms.

″Being-in-the-World″under the Horizon of the New Phenomenology
Hermann Schmitz, founder of newphenomenology, regards Heidegger' sexistential analysisin Sein und Zeitas a masterpiece of strict subjectivity . However, this strict subjectivity there is alienated . Although Heidegger had broken through the″inner world″hypothesis and had thus transcended the subjectivity by Husserl,he overlooked the basis of the strict subjectivity-the″felt-body″( Leib) and eventuallydistorted the situation ontologyin the embryonicstage .As aresult,he missed the opportunity of establishing an appropriate subjectivity theory through literal″being-in-the-world″(in-der-Welt-sein) . The new phenomenology probes into the significance of the″felt-body″in″b eing-in-the-world″and proposes a more organized theory of situation ontology .On the basis of corporal-emotional fact (subjective fact),it also refines″b eing-in-the-world″under the horizon of the new phenomenology, namely the strict subjectivity.

Imagining the Morality of Communication from the Perspective of Discourse Ethics : Comparison of and Reflections on Discourse Thoughts of Habermas ,Apel and Bakhtin
Though all devoted to the establishment of a discourse ethics,Habermas,Apel and Bakhtin differ from each other in terms of the orientations of their theories . Habermas focuses on communication-oriented communicative ethics—a weak discourse .Inspired by his own research of ″community″,Apel developed argumentation ethics which calls for an ideal and rigid strong discourse similar to telepathy .Bakhtin' s is a loose discourse, closer to Jesus-style dissemination . The former two call for a relatively standard discourse ethics and may result in closure and ″m onologization″.In comparison,Bakhtin' s theoryis more tolerant and″dialogic″. What the three philosophers share in common is the passion towards ethics and pursuit of the morality of communication .In an era lacking belief and full of uncertainties, thorough reflections on the ethics of communication may lead to more flexible, tolerant and productive mechanisms of discussing ethics, and to achieve this,an open discourse is one of the promising paths .

Taoist View of Happiness: Its Impacts on Modern Life
Taoists whose ultimate goal is to attain wisdom and become celestial beings, believe that happiness is not based on the richness of material life, power or high social reputation, but on a healthy and happy life. Thus they advocate that people follow nature rules,be content with the current life and takecare of their own health. For thousands of years,Taoism has emphasized the idea″E nough is as good as a feast″a nd believed that taking care of one's own health and living happily is the way to happiness, therefore the love of life constitutes the distinguishing feature of Taoist view of happiness. Taoist inquiry into the relationship between happiness and desire is an expression of their concern about the nature of human being and the consciousness of ideals of life, which has special value and significance in modern life.

A Sketch of Confucian Virtue Jurisprudence

Confucian moral thought could be read as a moderate version of virtue ethics . It takes the innate dispositions (virtues) of agents as the fundamental source of moral worth while still emphasizes the value of external rules of conduct ( Li) . Confucian virtue jurisprudence is a contemporary theory of law that is inspired by the ancient moral thought of Confucian thinkers . It is constituted by four basic ideas in Confucian moral theory : Li,Correcting Names,Yi and Ren. As a normative theory,Confucian virtue jurisprudence views harmony (coordinative harmony and autonomous harmony) as one of the fundamental aims law should achieve by providing an institutional framework that enables and facilitates the development of citizens' virtues .As a positive theory,it explains how law could fulfill its essential function of guiding people' s actions and provides an account of the mechanism through which thick concepts enable this guidance function of law . Based on these ideas,Confucian virtue jurisprudence makes a further claim that,to achieve a well functioning system of Rule of Law,thick legal concepts and the content of law should be internalized by citizens who possess the virtue of Yi .

A Study on Issues of Copyright of Ancient Fresco Digitalization
The digitalization of frescos includes four stages : image acquisition, image digital restoration, image inversion and database issue . Although the copyright of ancient frescos has expired, all the digital products based on them are not duplication of the original works . The image acquisition for the purpose of saving information merely constitutes duplication, and does not incur new copyright . The digital restoration of ancient fresco may create new works, restore or revise the original works .A censorship should be established in terms of the revision,so as to ensure the respect for the ancient fresco . To converse the format and scale the image after restoration merely constitutes duplication . The authentication standards of intellectual work are also manifested in the digitalization of Fresco . The core of an intellectual property is its irreplaceability of the behavior and the alteration of the essential visual parts of the original image .Lastly,in the protection of cultural relic' s database regarding its particularity, while the copyright law obeyed, the term of protection should be extended, reasonable monopoly allowed, and special rights of cooperative developers guaranteed .

Roles and Functions of Private Equity Funds in Chinese Enterprises' Overseas Investments
With the development of China' s economy and the strengthening of the enterprises' comprehensive strength,Chinese enterprises speed up their overseas investments .When Chinese enterprises participate in the process of global industrial competition, private equity should get involved actively . Private equity is not only a way for enterprises to generate profit in overseas investments, but also a financial acquisition method in overseas investments . Private equity has extensive connection to acquire further information . Their participation could also dilute the state role in investments . In addition, they can broaden financing channels and improve enterprises' acquisition capability .Furthermore, private equity can make use of its experience and talent pool to provide support in mergers and acquisitions . While private equity funds can facilitate Chinese enterprises' o verseas investments, they may also cause some risks .Currently in China, there are relatively significant legal hindrance for developing private equity at the stage of funds' formation, operation andexit .Inorder tofully realize the function of the privateequityfundsin Chineseenterprises' overseas investments, our country should accelerate relevant institution-building,effectively regulate private equity to guard against the risks, appropriately push for leveraged acquisitions to broaden their financing channels, accelerate the establishment of multi-layer capital markets for private equity to exit, provide appropriate favorable tax treatment and better service .

Financial Aspects of Publishing Local Gazetteers in the Ming Dynasty
This paper is a study of the financial aspects of publishing local gazetteersin Ming China .It is based on data collected in my review of over 500 Ming county, department, and prefectural histories . Local histories are more likely than other book genres to contain information on their production costs because their compilation was supervised by bureaucrats who needed to track expenses . To compile and publish a local history, source materials and production supplies had to be bought, salaries for editorial personnel and wages for craftsmen paid, workers fed, gifts for those who assisted in the compilation or wrote prefaces purchased, and incidental expenses such as transportation and storage covered .My study examines how much these various items cost .The information presented in this paper will be useful not only to the study of Chinese local histories, but to book history in general .

Major Inquiry Paradigms of Language Testing Research and Future Trends
An inquiry paradigm is the sum of positions and beliefs on ontological, epistemological and methodological levels that drive the research in acertainfield .Thefour major research paradigms of social sciences, namely, positivism, postpositivism, critical theory and constructivism, have a powerful influence over all research fields within social sciences, including the fieldof language testing .With measurement as its core activity, language testing has,for a long time, been dominated by positivism .However, over the last few decades, influenced by the development of inquiry paradigms in social sciences,a richer varietyof paradigms has appeared in language testing .However, owing to factors such as the essential attribute of language testing,in the futurepositivismand postpositivism will most likely retain their dominancein the field .Studies featuring a mixed-paradigm,namely a combination of alternative paradigms such as critical theory and constructivism, and the more traditional paradigms, will also have a lasting influence on language testing research .

A Cross-cultural Study on the Etymology of″Porcelain″
The spellings of″porcelain″are similar in Western languages .Most scholars accept the French sinologist Paul Pelliot' v iew that″porcelain″was not derived from Chinese but from″porcelaine″(Mauritia Arabica) in French, which was evolved from″p orcellana″(Mauritia Arabica) in Latin, diminutive of ″porcus″(pig) and″p ucelage″(virginity) .However,a cross-cultural study reveals that″porclain″is the sound translation of Chinese phrase″B o-si-lan″(Persian blue),a name fromIran-exported pigment used in Chinese ancient ceramic making .In Western languages,″p orcelain″has the definition of ceramic ware, which further transforms to″porcellana″(Mauritia Arabica),″shell″,″currency″,″tooth″,″porcelain enamel″ (glaze),and″porcelain-crab″in accordance with the shape and outward appearance on the one hand, and to″porcellanum″(garden porcelain),and″porcelain ampelopsis″(or″porcelain vine″) with reference to the colors on the other hand .This study also proves that at least in the Yuan Dynasty,high-class pigment used in ceramic making in China was imported from Iran .

Southward Spread of the Imperial Examination System and Vietnamese Fu Creation
The Imperial Examination system started in the Sui Dynasty and persisted to the late Qing Dynasty .It not only had a very important influence on the ancient politics, ideology, academic and culture, but also spread east to Korea and south to Vietnam, contributing to the Imperial Examination system of the two countries .According to the historical records of the two countries, the poem and Fu occupied a prominent position in the Imperial Examination .Compared with the Imperial Examination of China at the same period, the features of Vietnameseclassing Fu and testing Fu,was mainly shown by various genres, such as Han' s style(汉赋体),Tang' s style (唐律体),Li Bai' s style(李白体)etc .There were also a variety of themes, such as the creation of chanting history, scene description, narration and imitation .In the view of Fu history, the features of Vietnamese Fu had a certain positive effect on the improvement of literature, infiltration of Confucian Classics(经学) and history, construction of Fu system, and the change from analogue to self-reliance .

A Hermeneutical Study on the Notes of ShejiangCi

Shejiang Ci is a collection of poems written by Shen Zufen,a modern poetess . The collection was later noted by Cheng Qianfan, her husband . Cheng' s notes mainly reflected his understanding of Shejiang Ci . From a Hermeneutic perspective,it is important to discuss the necessity, possibility, effectiveness, relativity and inevitability of Cheng' s notes .First, the notes were necessary because Shejiang Ci adopted rhetorical strategies such as metaphors and analogy as well as a documentary approach . Second, the notes were possible because Cheng was Shen' s husband, and Cheng also had the favorable social environment to do the work . Third, the notes were effective because Cheng' s approach allowed him to note the metaphorical features of the poems . Fourth, the notes were relative because they were limited to Cheng' s understanding of Shejiang Ci . Last, the notes were inevitable in light of the spirit of academic research . For Cheng, the notes not only revealed the truth in Shejiang Ci,but also inevitably his own experience of the truth of life .

Origins of Mode of Trust and Characteristics of Chinese Trust
Many scholars used to think that the general principle of social organization behind China' s social system was the kinship principle, which formed the social characteristic of″differential pattern″. This characteristic resulted in a Chinese culture of low credibility, thus impeding the development of China .But through historical analysis and game deduction,it is observed that since China differs in the origin of game theory from India and Europe the Chinese build″direct trust″,a trust mode based on the principle of sympathy .Although this mode is superior to others in terms of reality, scope and strength, the direct trust carries with it a degree of liability as a result of the periodic disintegration and reconstruction of auxiliary impersonal trust as well as the transition and external threat of modern society . Therefore, the pattern of Chinese people' s trust given to different objects varying in order and intensity gradually manifests itself with the changes of the security circumstances in China . The social characteristic of″differential pattern″in China is mainly concerned with the time relation and its subsequent expansion into a space relation .

An Empirical Study on the Content Dimensions of Employment Relationships with Chinese Sci-tech Talents
Based on the inducement-contribution framework, the content dimensions of employment relationships with Chinese sci-tech talents is identified . Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis indicated that : (1) both provided inducements and expected contributions of sci-tech talents were multidimensional concepts;(2) provided inducements consisted of respect, personal growth and material rewards while expected contributions consisted of professional qualities, organizational identification and spirit of dedication . Compared with other studies using other employee' s groups, the dimensions found in this study have many similarities and differences . Furthermore, this study found that the majority of enterprises used two balanced approaches (job-oriented and organization-oriented) . However, approximately one eighth enterprises used two unbalanced approaches (overinvestment and underinvestment ) respectively .

Handling of Task Conflicts in Knowledge Team :Mediating Roles of Perceived Face Threats
For most knowledge teams, task conflicts resulted from individual cognitive differences cannot be avoided .Conflicts of this kind are both constructive and destructive, the outcomes of which depend mainly on the acts and performances of both sides involved in the interaction . In order to manage intra-group task conflicts effectively,it seems necessary and important to understand and grasp the logic and the rule of team members .Generally, conflicts are considered to be typical face events for most Chinese . The selection and combination of various conflict-handling modes are in essence a manipulation of face . Uncovering the mechanism of face will help to improve the management of task conflicts in a knowledge team, and to keep the conflicts away from escalation . This study demonstrates that perceived face threats do act as a mediator in the process of intra-group task conflicts . Team members, interacting during the conflicts, will perceive at least three kinds of face threats, which include face threats based on interpersonal relationships, individual abilities, and morality . They choose the″right″mode to handle intra-group task conflicts in line with their perceptions .
