In the past two decades, some progress has been made in lyrics studies, and the study pattern has been adjusted to a certain extent. But there still exist some problems. Lyrics studies should be carried out in multiple networks. To begin with, although lyrics studies are specialized, scholars of lyrics should establish an open knowledge network. Lyrics studies are different from those of other literary styles. The research content of lyrics studies such as the music, rhythm and collections of lyrics is regarded as “unique” (of another family) . In the past two decades, domestic and overseas researches on the music of lyrics in the field of lyrics studies have been at a relatively low ebb, though there have been considerable academic works. Lyrics studies are inseparable from music knowledge. Limited by the knowledge structure, many scholars are unable to make effective explorations on the music of lyrics. So do the rhythm and collections. Even within the discipline of Chinese language and literature, lyrics books in?the?past?dynasties have become the linguistic materials used by linguists to discuss the problems of phonology and rhetoric. It can be seen that expanding knowledge network is still a necessary step for scholars to improve their research ability. Secondly, lyrics studies should be undertaken by extending the time and space to a comprehensive holographic perspective. Based on the current two research hotspots of ancient literature, the study of "manuscripts" and Chinese books abroad, we can try to extend the time and space of lyrics studies to create a comprehensive “holographic network”. The canonization?of Tang-Song lyrics has been completed. Analyzing the textual structure of lyrics in detail is helpful in opening up new ideas. The continuation and transformation of classic lyrics in later generations will bring about more subjects. If we look at the text structure of lyrics from a comprehensive perspective, the stability of the tone itself and the instability of the internal connection, rhythm, sound and emotion are also worth thinking about. Furthermore, it is the study of Chinese books abroad that is the driving force for the extension of space. These books provide new literature and perspectives for lyrics studies as well as enriching the text network. Therefore, scholars of lyrics should pay more attention to this field. Finally, the relation between traditional research and the trend of digital humanities should be undertaken correctly. Having emerged and developed rapidly, digital humanities are likely to determine the future academic trends. Although traditional research is the basis of literature research into digital humanities, it still needs to keep pace with the times. Lyrics studies can be carried out from three aspects. Firstly, a retrieval?library of lyrics should be established. The retrieval system is the digital research tool most familiar to scholars. The research will be effectively advanced if we can establish a full-text retrieval library, which includes lyrics books in the past dynasties, research works in all periods, audio, video and other contents. Secondly, new technology should be put to good use. Visualization technology can partially replace field investigation and present the geographic distribution of groups of lyrics and schools of lyrics. The Markus text annotation tool can be used to sort out literature. Scholars should also actively find more new means suitable for lyrics studies. Thirdly, research ideas should be updated. Digital humanities are only an auxiliary means of research after all, and will not put traditional research on lyrics to no use. Technology cannot replace reading and thinking. Only on the basis of traditional research can technology play a greater role.?
